All Hallow's Eve

Halloween was all I dreamed it could be
I would venture to say this was my favorite Halloween to date.  We had some friends and family over for lasagna before we ventured out into the neighborhood.

Is there anything cuter than kids in costume?
I gotta say, Preston is the funniest trick-or-treater I've gone with.  He was FAR more interested in conversing with the home owners then he was the candy.  At more than a few houses he actually left WITHOUT CANDY.  Yup.  He's my chatty-Chucky.  (Like father-like son, they say.)  Most houses we had to holler at him to come back or he probably would have stayed the evening with them.
"'Ah-member that house ober dare wit' the scary ghosts?" He'd ask them. "Ah-member dah house wit' dah bloody cutains?  It was scary!"
(Pres starts a lot of conversations with "ah-member {remember} even if you were not there with him...)
He's a funny kid!
All in all a perfect Halloween eve.

Other Notes:

  • Dinner with friends is a perfect way to start Halloween night!
  • We have AMAZING, WONDERFUL and pretty much PERFECT neighbors.
  • Wy was a sport sitting in the stroller for most of the evening.
  • The neighbors straight down the street had THE BEST decorations that included flooding their driveway to make a bayou, a hut with burning incense and fortune teller, a boat with skeletons, banjo playing hillbillies sitting on a porch they built, a covered bridge, a floating, twitching "dead" guy...I could go on...
  • Sarah and Michael super sweet and stayed late so I wouldn't have to answer the door alone... (I think Sarah watches too much "Criminal Minds" and was convinced a serial killer was going to get me!)  I'm ALWAYS grateful for the company when Nate's away.

5 Little Notes:

Thanks for making it such a fun Halloween. The lasagne was AWESOME, and the company was even better. Be grateful that candy was not the priority for Preston this year; I can't guarantee that he won't change in that regard (based on my own experience.)

So, if the kiddies were animals, did you dress up as a zookeeper? Sounds like an ideal halloween!

Looks like it was a blast! That house looks amazing all decked out for the holiday! For some reason, I just can't get myself motivated to decorate for Halloween. But I sure love to see what other people do!

I love it!!! My nephews and niece look so cute! A party beforehand or afterward is so much fun, and I am SO JEALOUS of those amazingly decorated yards. I can never decide whether to do creepy Halloween or harvest Halloween or classy black-and-white Edgar Allen Poe Halloween. If you ever watch "Modern Family," the Halloween episode from the 2nd season TOTALLY reminds me of me...and not in good ways. The character Claire is far too similar to me for me to enjoy watching the show with Karl, BUT her Halloween decor was to die for!

I was more than happy to stay until the trick-or-treaters were gone. I have temporarily gone on a "Criminal Minds" fast, though, because I have a feeling that it has become somewhat unhealthy for me.

We had so much fun, and it was a perfect first Halloween for Violet! And I agree with my mom--that lasagna was a-MAH-zing.
