F*I*V*E

The Bug turned five last Monday.  I must admit this made me a lot more weepy than I thought it would.  While I love that Pres is getting bigger and developing such a fun personality, his birthdays also serve as a reminder that he is, indeed, getting bigger and older.  He is most certainly no longer a baby.  Five is the gateway into so many fun but oh-so-grown-up things.  I can't wait to be along for the ride for those things during his journey but I can't shake the feeling that this is the beginning of the end of my time with my boy.
My besty told me a month or so ago that she and her fam would be in town the week of Preston's birthday so we decided to put off the big cowboy party until later in the week.  But, of course, we couldn't let his actual birthday pass without a little fun.  We ate banana chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast then made our way up to Nana Lori's house for some Nana lovin'.
February 25, 2013 was a perfect sunny day full of cowboy dressin', fort investigatin', bike ridin', baseball playin' fun.

 (ropin' horses is hard work)
And after a very full day of fun we headed home where Nana Linda, Aunt Sarah, Uncle Michael and cousin Violet joined us for lasagna and chocolate cake (with chocolate frosting, of course).

After cake present opening.  (Every kids favorite part.)

 Happy Birthday, Bug.

I can't believe it's been five years since we were all at the Yellow House. haha! Oh man, how time flies. You do the funnest things for your boys' birthdays. I'll pick up some ideas from you for Sammy's future parties.

Maybe it is just my imagination, but I actually noticed a difference in him between last week and his birthday. He looks more grown up!
